How to install E-Notebook 12.1 (ELN client software) on Windows PC's?

Requirements to install E-Notebook 2014: 1. Microsoft Windows 2. MS Office, Adobe Reader (or similar) and ChemBioDraw (OPTIONAL - see STEP 2) 3. Valid VIB login credentials. Check your login and password on https://storefront.vib.be/. New VIB users browse to https://help.vib.be/ ​STEP 1: E-Notebook 2014 1. Browse to https://eln.vib.be/clickonce/ 2. Click “Install” and open the file 3. After the installation, the software is automatically launched and the login window appears 4. Log in with your VIB credentials (see requirements) 5. Close E-Notebook after successful launch: File - Exit or 'X' in the right upper corner 6. Generate a shortcut on the desktop (right click - Send to - Desktop): All Programs - PerkinElmer - E-Notebook 2014 Client 7. Install ChemBioDraw (STEP 2) STEP 2: ChemBioDraw Component Note: In case you only reinstall the ELN client, you don't have to reinstall the ChemBioDraw Component. Steps 1. to 4. might have been done by your local power users. 1. Download the ChemBioDraw installation file from the same website as E-Notebook 2014 (https://eln.vib.be/clickonce) 2. Unzip file and start the installation 3. Install ChemBioDraw ActiveX component in suggested destination 4. Click on Next 5. Click on “I accept …” and subsequently on “Next" 6. Accept the proposed installation location 7. Click on “Install” and subsequently on "Finish"

How to use ELN through Citrix on Windows?

Why use ELN throught Citrix on Windows: Some older Windows versions cause problems with the E-Notebook 2014 Client installation STEP 1: Citrix Workspace app 1. Browse to www.citrix.com 2. Click on Download 3. Select Citrix Workspace app from the list of possible downloads 4. Download and install Citrix Workspace app STEP 2: Browser plug-in 1. Open a browser (Internet Explorer/Edge, Firefox, Chrome) 2. Go to Menu - Add-ons / Settings – Extensions 3. Locate Citrix Workspace app in the list with plug-ins 4. Allow or Enable Citrix Workspace app 5. Browse to https://storefront.vib.be and login with your VIB credentials 6. Click on the ‘ELN 2014’ icon 7. Open the launch.ica file 8. Citrix Workspace app will open and launch the application 9. Login with your VIB credentials Note: Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer (Windows 10) can block the VIB domain, please add them to you trusted websites.

How to map local drives to the Citrix client on Windows?

In order to make your local drives (e.g. hard disk or local network drives) available to your Citrix session, you have to add the local network drives within an Export/Import dialog of ELN. 1. Login to ELN via the Citrix portal https://storefront.vib.be and launch ELN. 2. Open a Word section of one experiment. 3. Click on the ‘Import/Export’ icon. 4. In the open Windows file dialog, enter \\client into the field 'File name', press 'Enter'. 5. Select the network drives you’d like to add to your Citrix sessions (e.g. G or X drives) and create a shortcut to the drive by right-clicking on the drive name and browsing to ‘Create Shortcut’. 6. Confirm with ‘Yes’ in the following dialog. 7. The shortcut will be placed on the dektop of the Citrix server

How to access the local drives via the Citrix Client?
1. The local drives can be accessed via the Import/Export dialog of any Office, PDF or Image section. 2. In this dialog, you can access the local files via ‘Desktop’. 3. Your local hard disk will be: ‘Shortcut to ClientC$ on Client’. 4. A local network drive will be: ‘Shortcut to ClientG$ on Client’

Issues with EndNote (Version X2 or lower)
EndNote Versions X2 or lower might provoke issues when ELN is used, such as 'Printing Sections' being prevented and the occurence of error messages due to the integration of EndNote AddIns into Word. Remedy: Please ask your local IT helpdesk to upgrade the EndNote program to version X3 or higher.
