Enhanced Features for Text Field: The TAB key and various shortcuts are available

​In the section ‘Text Editor – Title Page’, the TAB key and the following shortcuts are available. This generates a VK_F16 code. F16 Same as Backspace. Ctrl+Insert Copy Shift+Insert Paste Insert Overwrite Ctrl+Left Arrow Move cursor one word to the left. On bidi keyboard, this depends on the direction of the text. Ctrl+Right Arrow Move cursor one word to the right. See Ctrl+Left Arrow comments. Ctrl+Left Shift Left alignment In BiDi documents, this is for left-to-right reading order. Ctrl+Right Shift Right alignment In BiDi documents, this is for right-to-left reading order. Ctrl+Up Arrow Move to the line above. Ctrl+Down Arrow Move to the line below. Ctrl+Home Move to the beginning of the document. Ctrl+End Move to the end of the document. Ctrl+Page Up Move one page up. If in SystemEditMode and Single Line control, do nothing. Ctrl+Page Down Move one page down. See Ctrl+Page Up comments. Ctrl+Delete Delete the next word or selected characters. Shift+Delete Cut the selected characters. Esc Stop drag-drop. While doing a drag-drop of text. Alt+Esc Change the active application. Alt+X Converts the Unicode hexadecimal value preceding the insertion point to the corresponding Unicode character. Alt+Shift+X Converts the Unicode character preceding the insertion point to the corresponding Unicode hexadecimal value. Alt+0xxx (Number Pad) Inserts Unicode values if xxx is greater than 255. When xxx is less than 256, ASCI range text is inserted based on the current keyboard. Must enter decimal values. Alt+Shift+Ctrl+F12 Hex to Unicode. In case Alt+X is already taken for another use. Alt+Shift+Ctrl+F11 Selected text will be output to the debugger window and saved to %temp%\DumpFontInfo.txt. For Debug only (need to set Flag=8 in Win.ini) Ctrl+Shift+A Set all caps. Ctrl+Shift+L Fiddle bullet style. Ctrl+Shift+Right Arrow Increase font size. Font size changes by 1 point in the range 4pt-11pt; by 2points for 12pt-28pt; it changes from 28pt -> 36pt -> 48pt -> 72pt -> 80pt; it changes by 10 points in the range 80pt - 1630pt; the maximum value is 1638. Ctrl+Shift+Left Arrow Decrease font size. See Ctrl+Shift+Right Arrow comments.

How to resolve access conflicts on shared experiments

​Some users share notebooks with each other i.e. both users have read and write access on the experiments. In this scenario, you might get a warning message that the experiment is in use by another user. The experiment has not yet been saved by the other user. In order to proceed, please inform this user to save the experiment before you can edit it. Subsequently, you will get a warning message that the experiment has been modified elsewhere and has to be refreshed prior to modification. Please press F5 or use the View menu followed by selecting Refresh.

Problems related to the Offline Folder
This error can occur if you are using the ClickOnce installation of ELN. Sometimes, error messages are displayed when you try to add a new experiment to one of your notebooks. Remedy: Please delete the Offline folder and all subfolders. It can be found at the indicated path e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\TEMP\ENOffline

Access to ELN refused due to wrong or expired password

​When trying to open ELN, the following error message may appear on your screen: "Sorry, an error occurred while opening a client connection: while setting up connection with central database. The given password is incorrect or may be expired. Please verify at https://ctxportal.vib.be. Remedy: Please try to login on the VIB portal at https://ctxportal.vib.be to verify whether your VIB password is incorrect or may be expired. In case you forgot your VIB password, mail to passwordresets@vib.be to request a new password. You will receive the procedure to reset your password.

How to resolve the ‘Key Not Recognized’ error

​Sometimes, when clicking on a collection object in the browser, the following error ‘Sorry, the key 43 is not recognized as the key of a section type’ is shown: Remedy: Please refresh your session by pushing the F5 key. Alternatively, please go to the View menu and select ‘Refresh F5’. Very rarely, this refreshing does not help and we advise to close the ELN program and restart it. Wipe your clipboard.

How to install Teamviewer for Windows

1​. Download the software Teamviewer from www.teamviewer.com. 2. Execute the downloaded file from your Download files. 3. In the following window, please click on ‘Run Only’ in the first panel and ‘personal/non-commercial use). Do NOT install the Teamviewer software. Click on ‘Accept – run’. 4. In the following window, you will see the Teamviewer software where a ‘Remote Control’ tab is shown. 5. If you are connected to the internet, you will see a code in the ‘Your ID’ field and a password in the ‘Password’ field. 6. The helpdesk would need the code and the password in order to connect to your computer and share the screen.

If you are connected to the internet, you will see a code in the ‘Your ID’ field and a password in the ‘Password’ field. The helpdesk would need the code and the password in order to connect to your computer and share the screen.

ELN does not start up when I click on the ELN12 icon in Citrix.

If you installed the Citrix Receiver from http://www.citrix.com and ELN does not seems to launch when you click on "ELN12": Depending on your browser, you get a message to allow the Citrix plugin to launch. If you don't get this message, go into your browser settings or plugin settings and look for Citrix receiver. Allow or trust this plugin and restart your browser. go to https://ctxportal.vib.be and log in. When you launch ELN12 and you get the message to "save" or "open" launch.ica choose "open" and the Citrix Receiver will launch.

I can't find ELN on my computer after the update.
Your ELN is not gone! During the update the software is replaced to another folder, this is the reason why your desktop or taskbar icon disappeared. The new location of E-Notebook is: Start - All Programs - PerkinElmer - E-Notebook 2014 Client.
