Since cutadapt is written in Python you can install it using pip.

Install cutadapt using pip.

Installing tools using pip is very simple, use the following command: pip install cutadapt Chances are that you get an error message saying "fatal error: pyconfig.h: No such file or directory". Looking up this error in Google learns that we don't have the correct dependencies installed. To solve this we need to run the following command: apt-get install python-dev libxml2-dev libxslt-dev If you repeat the cutadapt installation, it should go fine this time.

If pip is not yet installed, the terminal will show an error message saying that pip is currently not installed. You can install pip using apt-get.
